We are looking for someone(s) that would be interested in sitting in north Chicagoland for 7 to 10 days. Actually, we would be gone for 7 but invite you to come earlier to get settled. The dates posted are hypothetical.The dates of the trip will be planned only after we have sitter. If you are local then we would like to do meet-and-greet before confirming a sit.
We are a 60s-something couple. We have two phenomenal young Bengal boys but they are a little more complicated than most indoor cats. They love attention. They both like to be the center of attention. They talk a lot. They expect you to talk to them. Bengals are super intelligent. That is bad as well as good. We have child locks on some of the doors. One cat opens doors; the other closes them. The closer shuts himself in the bathrooms, on a fairly regular basis. He will need rescuing. He shuts his brother in the basement. The brother will need rescuing.
We spend some time, every day, playing with them. It is really important to their emotional well-being. Despite there being two, they still need human time. They really like their human time.
They follow us around the house. They sleep with us. They go upstairs to bed when we go and come down in the morning when we do, even if we sleep in. You need to be okay with animals sleeping with you because they hate being shut out. If you hear one yelling from somewhere in the house it may sound like “I just broke my leg” but is probably “Help! I am in a room by myself. Where are you?!!!” We are teaching Kiko to jump up and ride on shoulders. We noticed that it brought him out of his shell. He loves the applause! When he does that he expects that he will be rewarded so please take that into account if you are interested in this sit.
This is a lovely area but to be clear, we are not in Chicago. We are on the North Shore, about an hour north of Chicago on Lake Michigan so for someone looking for an opportunity to be in Chicago, this is not it. With that said, this may be a better sit for "older" adults.
We live in Fort Sheridan, a development/town about 45 miles north of Chicago. Fort Sheridan, located on Lake Michigan, was built as army base in It was converted to residential homes in the mid 1990s. It is beautifully manicured and well maintained. The north shore (the area north of Chicago) contains many Forest Preserves so it is very green and it is not uncommon to see deer and other large beasts.
The city of Highwood is small. It sits on Lake Michigan between Lake Forest and Highland Park. The community that had once been in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most bars now boasts many of the area's best restaurants outside the city of Chicago. It is an easy walk-to from the house.
There are extensive paths for biking/walking/hiking if you are an outdoor enthusiast.
We have high speed internet (including subscriptions to Netflix and AppleTV).
We have security cameras on all of the doors but there is no crime to speak of.
